Sport Management (4 years, Bachelor of Business Administration)

Description

The BBA in Sport Management offers students the opportunity to gain knowledge and practical skills in an integrated program of study. Courses cover fundamental business principles in sport, financing, marketing, ethics, and facilities management. An optional one-week, intensive course at the Real Madrid International School (RMIS), supported by Real Madrid FC in collaboration with the European University of Madrid, enables students to attain a Diploma in Sport Management from RMIS, in addition to a BBA in Sport Management from the European University of Cyprus.

General Objectives
  • To develop the student’s capacity to think, write and speak effectively and creatively
  • To develop an appreciation of and respect for social, moral, and ethical values as the foundation of one’s relationship to others and one’s responsibilities to the community;
  • To develop the student’s analytical, decision-making and communication competencies together with those qualities of self-reliance, responsibility, integrity and self-awareness which will promote personal achievement and contribution to organizations;

Specific Objectives
  • To provide students with a foundation in Business in general and Sports Management in particular;
  • To develop the required management skills and qualities so that graduates in Sports Management will be prepared to meet the challenges and to take advantage of the wide range of opportunities within one of the most dynamic industries;
  • To help students experience the application of analytical and evaluative approaches designed to encourage creative problem solving in the sports industry;
  • To provide structured practical experience of work in the sports industry. Students build on previously learned skills and knowledge to develop new management and behavioral skills.

 

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the programme, students should be able to:

  • Demonstrate their ability to communicate effectively in business situations through speaking, writing, and by use of electronic media.
  • Demonstrate their ability to build teams and work effectively within them.
  • Demonstrate awareness and capability of analysis of environmental (economic, social, political, legal, and ethical) trends and their impact on individuals and businesses.
  • Describe the application of manual and computer-based quantitative and qualitative tools and methodologies in identifying and solving problems and making decisions in business situations.
  • Critically evaluate and apply concepts, techniques, strategies, and theories from any appropriate discipline in business contexts.
  • Describe the sports delivery system and explain the mechanisms of the relevant decision making at a global and local level.
  • Demonstrate the ability to prepare plans for a sport organization.
  • Specify the various leadership roles and practices that could be employed in a sport context.
