Cypriot and EU Students

The main admission criterion for entry of undergraduate students at European University of Cyprus is the successful completion of the High School level of education (12 years of secondary education or its equivalent). For some programs of study places are limited and therefore additional academic criteria may apply to the selection process. Selection is based on academic merit. The application deadline for students seeking admission for the Fall semester is the second Friday of September and for the Spring semester, the second Friday of January (Cypriot and EU students only). However, in case of increased demand, study places for certain programs may be filled before the deadline.

Undergraduate Students

The general admission requirement for all undergraduate programs is the successful completion of secondary education. Cypriot and European Union students must submit the documents listed below, in electronic form to admit@euc.ac.cy, or in person to the Office of Admissions, 6 Diogenous Street, 2404, Engomi, Nicosia or by post P.O. Box 22006, 1516 Nicosia, at least two weeks prior to the beginning of their first semester.

  • Copy of a valid passport/identity card
  • One passport-size photograph
  • Proof of proficiency in English (if any)*

 

Once an applicant receives an acceptance letter from the University, he/she must submit a down payment towards first semester tuition fees, of €1100. For online payment, click here.

 

*Proficiency in English is not a requirement for admission to European University Cyprus. However, applicants whose native language in not English may be required to take the University’s English Placement Test (EPT). Candidates whose English is below the required standard will be offered additional English-language classes.

 

Exemption from English Placement Test (EPT)  

Applicants are exempt from the English Placement Test (EPT) if they have one of the following:

 

TOEFL score of at least 550 (213 computer-based, 79 internet-based), or

English IGCSE with grade C or above, or

IELTS with a score of 6.5 or above

 

Other external exams may also be accepted by the English Department as equivalent. Consult the Office of Admissions for further details.

 

Payment of fees

Upon receipt of an acceptance letter from the university, students are required to submit a down payment of €1,100. To pay online, click here.

Master Students

The general admission requirement for European University Cyprus graduate programs is the successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree at a recognized institution, or equivalent professional qualifications.

Applicants from Cyprus, Greece, and other EU member states must submit the documents listed below, in electronic form to admit@euc.ac.cy, or in person to the Office of Admissions, 6 Diogenous Street 2404, Engomi, Nicosia, at least two weeks prior to the beginning of their first semester.

  • Official copy of a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university, in English
  • Official copy of academic transcript, in English
  • Copy of valid passport/identity card
  • Proof of English proficiency (if any)
  • Letter of recommendation

  • Official copy of High School Leaving Certificate and grade marksheet, in English
  • Curriculum vitae (CV)
  • One passport-size photograph

PhD Students

European University Cyprus has a limited number of places available on its doctoral programs. Applicants from EU member states must submit the documents listed below, in electronic form to admit@euc.ac.cy, or by post to the Office of Admissions, P.O. Box 22006, 1516, Nicosia, Cyprus.

 

  • A completed application form together with a non-refundable fee of €52. Apply online here
  • Curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Official copies of Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees (or official letter verifying that the applicant has successfully completed all degree requirements)
  • Official copies of academic transcripts
  • Copies of relevant publications (up to two)
  • Two letters of recommendation from faculty members of higher academic institutions
  • Other supporting documents, such as awards, distinctions, etc.
  • English-language proficiency certificates (if any)
  • One passport size photo
  • Copy of valid passport/identity card

 

All eligible candidates will be invited for interview in Cyprus. In some cases, the University may be able to conduct an interview online. Applicants should be able to provide evidence of their academic credentials.

Medical Students

Academic records

Applicants from Cyprus or Greece

Applicants from Cyprus or Greece must submit an official copy of their High School Leaving Certificate (Apolyterion or its equivalent) and marksheet. To be considered for admission, candidates must have achieved an average grade of 18/20 or above (90%).

 

Graduates from the public lyceums must have passed Biology and either Chemistry, Math, or Physics in the Pancyprian Exam (in Cyprus) or the Panelladikes Exam (in Greece), or have passed GCE A-levels in the same subjects.

Graduates from private schools must have passed GCE A-levels in Biology, as well as either Chemistry, Math, or Physics.

The University reserves the right to consider graduates of other systems deemed equivalent to the Pancyprian, Panelladikes, or GCE A-levels.

Other EU applicants

Applicants from EU member states other than Cyprus or Greece must submit an official copy of their High School Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) and marksheet along with their application. To be considered for admission, candidates must have an average grade of at least 90% or its equivalent. All applicants must have passed Biology as well as either Chemistry, Math, or Physics in national final exams, or have passed GCE A-levels or their equivalent in the same subjects.

 

Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree

Applicants who have completed a Bachelor’s degree at a recognized university in a relevant field can be considered for admission into the first year of study.

Proficiency in English

Academic reference/Letter of recommendation

Applicants must provide an academic reference or letter of recommendation, issued by a teacher or lecturer, and certified by the school or university with which the referee is affiliated. The reference must be sent directly to the Office of Admissions or by email to m.alexandrou@euc.ac.cy.

 

Voluntary work

Voluntary work undertaken in a hospital or residential care facility will be taken into consideration.

 

Personal statement

All candidates must submit a personal statement, written in English, outlining the candidates’ education, experience, and interests, as well as career goals and motivation to study medicine.

   

Interview

All eligible candidates will be invited for interview in Cyprus. In some cases, the University may be able to conduct an interview online. The interview process is rigorous and thorough. Applicants should be prepared to discuss their personal motivation to study medicine, their hobbies and personal interests, as well as providing evidence of their academic credentials.

 

Payment

Successful applicants must confirm acceptance of their offer within one week of notification. A down payment of €4,750 of tuition is payable on acceptance. The remaining amount will be settled in three equal installments of €4,750 as follows:

December (Before Christmas) as settlement for Fall Semester

January (or earlier) as down payment for Spring Semester

April (or earlier) as settlement for Spring Semester

Conditional admission

Applicants who have successfully completed the first term of their final year of high school and satisfy all admission requirements (see above) may apply for conditional admission. Successful candidates will be called for interview and may be awarded conditional admission, dependent on final high school grade or A-Level results.
