Ariadne Psychometric Tool

ARIADNE is a modern and reliable career-guidance instrument designed and developed in Greece to facilitate Secondary Education students’ decision-making regarding their educational and career future. It is the result of many years of research of a scientific unit led by Prof. Dr. Despina Sidiropoulou-Dimakakou, Professor of Career Assessment and Guidance and Dr. Nikos Drosos, Psychologist and Career Counselor. It helps students uncover their interests in the fields of education and work and to connect these interests with relevant occupations. It can facilitate students’ exploration of their educational and occupational alternatives, help them learn about careers, and set goals for the future.

ARIADNE assesses the relationship between the activities that a student likes or dislikes and the activities required in the various occupations he/she may be considering. The results can increase career guidance services effectiveness and play a major role in helping students understand how career interests may be connected to their future career success. ARIADNE is designed to address most Europe’s educational systems and the current labor market, and it provides scores for 16 broad educational/occupational categories and 30 sub-categories. With the permission of the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture, the ARIADNE questionnaire was tested among high school in Cyprus and adjusted to reflect the Cypriot educational, professional and social reality. It is an easy and quick tool to use, with an average completion time of 20 to 30 minutes and allows the student to receive an analytical report on his interests and related professions. The European University Cyprus, as part of its effort to help pupils get a sense of their interests and potential has made the questionnaire available for free.
