CYBER.CERIDES launching webinar

European University Cyprus is organising a webinar on 21 October 2020 to mark the launch of the Cyber Security Competence Center CYBER.CERIDES. With cybersecurity firmly on the political and entrepreunerial agenda CYBER.CERIDES aims to provide governments and businesses its combined wealth of cybersecurity and risk assessment expertise, advance academic research in the field and build trustworthy partnerships in Cyprus and the broader Mediterranean region.

The webinar, which will be addressed by the Republic of Cyprus Deputy Minister for Research, Innovation and Digital Policy Kyriacos Kokkinos, will include an introduction to the fundamental risks in cyberspace, case studies and an open discussion with members of CYBER.CERIDES’ international advisory board. The webinar will also be addressed by Mr Michael Daniel, president and CEO of Cyber Threat Alliance and former Special Assistant to president Obama and Coordinator of cybersecurity at the US National Security Council Staff.

Speakers will include Despina Spanou, Head of Cabinet for the Vice President of the European Commission Margaritis Schinas, professor Ciaran Martin, former CEO of the UK National Cyber Security Centre, Mr. Freddy Dezeure, former head of CERT-EU, Mr George Michaelides, Cyprus’ Commissioner of Electronic Communications and Postal Regulation, Professor Paul Timmers senior advisor at the European Policy Centre in Brussels and former Director of Digital Society, Trust, and Cybersecurity at the European Commission, and professor George Metakides from European University Cyprus.
