The Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education (CYQAA) has re-certified the undergraduate Dentistry Program of European University Cyprus and simultaneously upgraded the Department of Dentistry to an autonomous School of Dentistry. The evaluation was carried out by a three-member committee of Dentistry professors from the United Kingdom, Spain and the Netherlands, with the participation of representatives of Cypriot bodies related to the subject of the program.
The English-language 5-year Bachelor of Dental Surgery Program, offered since 2017, is based on the corresponding programs of the leading universities in Europe and North America and is in line with the guidelines of the Council of European Dentists, while this year it had its first graduates, and its students to present come from 33 different countries.
The upgrading of the Department of Dentistry to an autonomous School of Dentistry is a natural development due to its administrative and academic evolution during the period of its operation. Its academic management is carried out by professors with long-standing expertise in dental education in an international environment. Its numerous teaching staff consists of lecturers of medical biological sciences and experienced dentists, with postgraduate studies, holders of dental specializations or expertise, and university professors. The training of the students takes place in the state-of-the-art laboratory and clinical facilities of the School of Dentistry, which in the last two years have doubled in size and functionality, while construction work has already begun on new building facilities that will add new laboratories and clinics.
