During the proceedings of the 63rd Summer Meeting of the European Dental Students’ Association (EDSA) in Kosice, Slovakia, the General Assembly unanimously approved on 23 August 2021 the application of the European University Cyprus’ (EUC) Dental Students’ Association for participation as a full member.

The Cypriot delegation, consisting of students Yiannis Pistolas, Polykarpos Hadjiperiklis and Stella Eleni Konstantinidou, strongly defended their application and presented in detail EUC’s Dentistry Program, as well as the Association’s statute and activities.

The European Dental Students’ Association (EDSA) was founded in 1988 and today represents more than 70,000 dentistry  students from 182 dental schools in 33  countries, with EUC and Cyprus being its newest addition.   EDSA is a non-profit organization that accepts as members Dental students studying at European universities.

According to Mr. Pistolas, the acceptance of the EUC Dental Students’ Association as a full member is the result of a long and systematic preparation aimed at ensuring  that each EUC student can actively participate in scientific events, exchange programs and the research activities of this international organization.

The Executive Dean of the EUC Dentistry Department, Professor Athanasios E. Athanasiou, who supported the association’s application  in a letter to the EDSA Presidency, congratulated the Cypriot delegation and stressed that students should take full advantage of the international body’s learning and cultural exchange opportunities.. He also stated that the EUC Dental students, representing  more than 30 countries and following  a modern curriculum in English, have all the resources and qualifications to actively participate in EDSA activities.
