Medical Science Insight Lectures: Live Events with the World’s Great Minds Nobel Prize Winner Jean-Marie Lehn

Posted: February 23, 2022

European University Cyprus, School of Medicine kicks off its new lecture series “Medical Science Insight Lectures”.  The series is an extension of the School’s Medical Science PhD program and features live events with leading personalities worldwide. The aim is to provide a rich transdisciplinary forum and masterclass for the scientific community to be inspired and engaged in the rapidly changing world of medical science.

We are proud to announce our first speaker, Professor Jean-Marie Lehn, Nobel Laureate, Professor at the University of Strasbourg Institute for Advanced Study.  Professor Lehn will lecture on “From supramolecular towards adaptive chemistry: Biomedical aspects”, focusing on his work on the chemical basis of “molecular recognition” (the way molecules recognize and selectively bind to substrates), which also plays a fundamental role in biological processes. It is for these ground-breaking studies that in 1987, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. In 2018, Professor Lehn offered a 3-day specialized workshop on “Steps towards life: Chemistry”, within the International Multi-thematic Bio-Medical Congress, organized by Professor Patrikios, annually.  Professor Lehn was inaugurated as Honorary Professor of the European University Cyprus, School of Medicine on May 9, 2018.

Join us for this inspiring lecture by one of the “world’ great minds”, who stresses

“The evolution of the universe has generated more and more complex forms of matter through self-organization, from particles up to living and thinking matter. Science shapes the future of humanity!”
