The National Observatory of Athens and European University Cyprus sign Strategic Partnership Agreement.

European University Cyprus and the National Observatory of Athens, Greece’s oldest research center, signed a cooperation agreement on January [21] in [Nicosia] [Athens]. Operating continuously since 1842 the National Observatory of Athens is one of the most important scientific institutions in Greece with its operation intertwined with the country’s modern history.

The agreement was signed by the Rector of European University Cyprus Professor Kostas Gouliamos and the Director and President of the Board of Directors of the National Observatory of Athens, Professor Manolis Pleionis. The two institutions will cooperate in postgraduate programs in areas of common interdisciplinary interest, as well as through joint use of infrastructure, the exchange of know-how and their participation in national and European research programs.

In their joint statement, Messrs Gouliamos and Pleionis emphasized that their cooperation is not only aimed at promoting the excellence of the two institutions’ research and education work but will serve to enhance and promote the development of societies at regional, national and European level.
