A FIVE STARS INSTITUTION

The QS Intelligence Unit has, through rigorous and independent data collection and analysis of performance metrics as set out in the QS Stars™ methodology, rated European University Cyprus as a Five Stars institution.

European University Cyprus has been ranked with an overall assessment of 5-Stars by QS TOP UNIVERSITIES (QS Stars University Ratings 2024). The QS Stars University Rating evaluates institutions globally on 50 different indicators and awards universities between one and five stars in a range of fields. EUC has received five stars for performance in the areas of:

  • Teaching
  • Employability
  • Global Engagement
  • Online Learning
  • Diversity/Equity/Inclusion
  • MD Medicine

QS Stars is a rating system that conducts a comprehensive and detailed evaluation of an institution examining numberous of indicators across sevral categories. Following the assessment, universities are awarded overall as well as sectoral star results, which range from 0 to 5 stars, depending on the number of points achieved through the evaluation.

European University Cyprus stands among the 801-1000 world’s top universities in the respected Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. This ranking places European University Cyprus in the top 3% of higher education institutions worldwide, underscoring its commitment to academic excellence, impactful research and innovative teaching. The university’s performance across key indicators such as teaching quality, research output, international outlook and industry engagement contributes to its high standing and reflects its dedication to providing a top-tier education.

As part of the elite global network of universities recognized by THE, European University Cyprus showcases the quality and influence of education available in Cyprus, attracting students, faculty and researchers from around the world. European University Cyprus has been ranked among the top 601+ universities globally on the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2026 for Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.  Assessed on rigorous performance indicators, this ranking reaffirms EUC’s commitment to excellence in Medical and Dental education and other health disciplines.

 

European University Cyprus has been ranked among the world’s top 201+ universities in the 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings in the category of Decent Work and Economic Growth. The University has also achieved strong rankings in additional categories, including Good Health and Well-Being (401–600) and Reduced Inequalities (401–600).
The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings assess universities annually across a wide range of categories aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) up to 2030.

For the fourth consecutive year, European University Cyprus has been certified as a Great Place to Work®, reaffirming its commitment to excellence, people development, and modern human resources management practices. 93% of its academic and administrative staff, representing a community of 1,500 members, rated the University as an employer of choice, reflecting a 5% increase compared to the previous year.

 

In parallel, the University’s ranking at #71 among the 100 Best Workplaces in Europe for 2025, along with its distinction as Cyprus Best Workplaces™ for Women 2026, highlights its steadily upward trajectory and its long-term commitment to fostering a modern, fair, and inclusive working environment.

All degrees awarded by European University Cyprus are fully recognized by their respective  professional organizations. More particularly, the Information Technology, Computer Engineering and Electrical and Electronic Engineering programs are recognized by the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber; the Nursing program by the European Commission; the Radiodiagnostics-Radiotherapy program by the Cyprus Council of RadiologTechnologists and Radiation Therapy Technologists; the Nutrition and Dietetics program by the Cyprus Council of Food Technologists, Nutritionists and Dieticians; the Physiotherapy program by the Cyprus Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy Establishments Registration Council; and the Speech and Language Therapy program by the Association of Registered Speech & Language Pathologists of Cyprus.

European University Cyprus has been approved by the Magna Charta Observatory Council to become a signatory university to the Magna Charta Universitatum. This is a remarkable distinction as the charter codifies the principles of academic freedom and institutional autonomy setting guidelines for good governance of universities.

The European Commission has recognized  European University Cyprus’ contribution to research excellence with the prestigious international award, HR Excellence in Research.   The ’HR Excellence in Research Logo’ was awarded following a thorough analysis of European University Cyprus’ HR policies.  These were shown to  provide and support a stimulating and favourable working environment for researchers.  This distinction  places the university among the leading 392 global academic institutions.
