European University Cyprus is the first university in Cyprus and Greece to be rated by QS TOP UNIVERSITIES (QS Stars)—which ranks many of the most prestigious universities in the United States, Canada and Europe—placing EUC among the top universities in the world on the basis of its performance in several categories.
The QS Stars University Rating evaluates an institution on 50 different indicators and awards universities between one and five stars in a range of fields.

European University Cyprus is ranked an impressive 76th in terms of Decent Work and Economic Growth which evaluates sectors such as sustainable growth, the work placement of students and the employability of graduates, while it is included in the 101-200 bracket of best universities in the sector of Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.

The European Commission’s U-Multirank ranking mechanism confirms European University Cyprus’ excellence, innovation and prestige. U-Multirank is the world’s largest independent university ranking tool, comparing more than 1,600 universities from 95 countries.
In the 2018 rankings, European University Cyprus placed among the top academic institutions, performing in the top 300 in the fields of:
- Research (Arts Related Output – top 50)
- Knowledge Transfer (Spin off – top 42)
- Professional Development of Students and Staff (top 63)
- International Orientation (International Academic Staff – top 15)
- International Joint Academic Publications (top 68)
In the Regional Engagement Category, the University scored 82% for bachelor graduates working in the region and 95% for master graduates working in the region.
All degrees awarded by European University Cyprus are fully recognized by their respective professional organizations. More particularly, the Information Technology, Computer Engineering and Electrical and Electronic Engineering programs are recognized by the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber; the Nursing program by the European Commission; the Radiodiagnostics-Radiotherapy program by the Cyprus Council of RadiologTechnologists and Radiation Therapy Technologists; the Nutrition and Dietetics program by the Cyprus Council of Food Technologists, Nutritionists and Dieticians; the Physiotherapy program by the Cyprus Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy Establishments Registration Council; and the Speech and Language Therapy program by the Association of Registered Speech & Language Pathologists of Cyprus.
European University Cyprus ranked among the best in the world in 2018 from the international organization “Τhe GreenMetric Ranking of World Universities.” The organization aims to raise awareness of universities who display commitment and action towards environmental sustainability. Moreover, it assesses and classifies the energy and environmental policies of universities around the world. In the category of “Energy and Climate Change.” European University Cyprus received the highest ranking of all private universities in Cyprus.
The European Commission has recognized European University Cyprus’ contribution to research excellence with the prestigious international award, HR Excellence in Research. The ’HR Excellence in Research Logo’ was awarded following a thorough analysis of European University Cyprus’ HR policies. These were shown to provide and support a stimulating and favourable working environment for researchers. This distinction places the university among the leading 392 global academic institutions.
European University Cyprus has placed Cyprus on the international and European map with the establishment of the first Science Shop in the country and one of 30 operating in Europe today. The Science Shop is a member of the International Network of the Living Knowledge International Science Shop. In Cyprus, the first Science Shop was launched at EUC through the PERARES European Research Program (Public Engagement with Research and Research Engagement with Society, 7th framework program). This community-based research entity operates on the university premises benefiting from faculty, students, labs and other facilities. In collaboration with social groups, the Science Shop offers scientific solutions to problems facing the Cypriot society and economy.
European University Cyprus has five-star ratings from the reputable non-profit EFQM based on the EFQM Model of Excellence. EUC has scored more than 500 points in areas of leadership, strategy, partnerships, and resources, processes, products, and services. This accreditation affirms European University Cyprus’ sustainability and its future course as a successful organization contributing positively to education, society and the business world. The award adheres to the high quality standards that define European University Cyprus and its continuous and successful path towards excellence.
European University Cyprus has been approved by the Magna Charta Observatory Council to become a signatory university to the Magna Charta Universitatum. This is a remarkable distinction as the charter codifies the principles of academic freedom and institutional autonomy setting guidelines for good governance of universities.
European University Cyprus has been awarded with the Investors in People Silver accreditation in the Investors in People Standard, demonstrating its commitment to high performance through good people management. The University currently engages more than 600 employees in its academic and administrative functions.
