First prize at the Researcher’s Night

The School of Medicine was awarded 1st prize for “Best Activity” during the Researcher’s Night 2017. The project, “Exploring the Brain,” was aimed at the public as outreach and to motivate their interest in discovering the structure and function of the human brain. More than 1500 schoolchildren visited the exposition in the morning and an equal number of adults were present during the evening session. The activities were run with dedication, teamwork and passion by a team of forty EUC medical students.

First Prize Pancyprian Educational Robotic Olympiad

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering at European University Cyprus won First Place for the second consecutive year in the 4th Pancyprian Educational Robotic Olympiad. The university’s team won the University Students category for the implementation of a robotic system on Bowling Simulation. The European University Cyprus winning team represented Cyprus in the World Educational Robotics Olympiad in December 2016 in India, securing the 20th position among
52 universities that attended the event.

‘Motion Vibes’ an Innovative Education Project

An outstanding innovative program for hearing impaired students takes place exclusively at European University Cyprus.  “Motion Vibes” is a unique innovative project – the only one of its kind – through which hearing impaired students can add sound to the moving image.

The project was developed and implemented by Ms. Demetra Englezou, 3D Design and Animation Instructor with students’ contribution, as part of the activities of the Cultural Studies and Contemporary Arts Laboratory and was presented at the Motion Design Education Summit in Dublin, December 2016.

1st Prize at the Creative Communication Competition for European Elections

Our Department of Arts student, Michalis Hapesis, won first prize for his poster titled “Your vote speaks” at the Creative Communication Competition in 2019. Michalis used a graphic depiction to describe the power of the vote and the value of participating in the European elections, as the voters are given the opportunity to “speak” with their vote and impact society. The competition was organized by the Cyprus Press and Information Office with the participation of all the universities of Cyprus.
