Laurent Fabius becomes a member of the European University Cyprus family

Acknowledging Laurent Fabius' global work and his prominent personality, the European University Cyprus Senate has named him Honorary Doctor of the Law School. The ceremony took place at the European University Cyprus Cultural Center, with the participation of representatives of the executive, legislative and judiciary, diplomats, the University’s academic community, the Senate, the administration and a large number of students. Laurent Fabius is an emblematic personality of French political life and Europe’s legal world. He is President of the French Constitutional Council, while he has served as Prime Minister, twice President of the Parliament and as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The award ceremony was chaired by the Rector of European University Cyprus, Professor Kostas Gouliamos, while the Dean of the University, Professor Konstantinos Tsimaras, read the Law School resolution. The Ceremony concluded with Mr Fabius’ speech, titled: "Protecting the Environment: our Responsibilities to the Present and Future Generations". Laurent Fabius expressed his gratitude and warm thanks for the honor he had been granted. He said he considers himself “a member of the family of European University Cyprus”. Referring to his work on dealing with the effects of Climate Change, he said that “the European University Cyprus is renowned for its promotion of innovation, the high-level of education offered and its strong commitment to raising public awareness on critical environmental issues”.
