GENERAL INFORMATION FOR DOCTORAL STUDIES
European University Cyprus announces every academic year a limited number of places for doctoral studies in both Fall and Spring Semester (commencing October and February, respectively). Applications are submitted using the
application form. All necessary supporting material accompanying the application are described in the application form.
Last day for submitting applications:
- For Fall Semester: Initial deadline: 2 May (if positions remain available, additional applications for these positions are accepted by the 15th of September per year)
- For Spring Semester: 15 January per year.
The final selection is based on assessment of the applicant’s qualifications and personal interview(s).

Ph.D. Program of Public Health of the Department of Health Sciences and the Department of Medicine, announces a limited number of places for doctoral studies every year in one or a combination of the following areas:
- Climate Change, Sustainable Development and Health*
- Control of Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases*
- Lifestyle and Chronic Disease Epidemiology**
- Reproductive, Perinatal and Paediatric Epidemiology and Women’s Health**
- Active and Healthy Ageing**
- Tackling health Misinformation and Disinformation**
- Population Health Intelligence and Precision Public Health**
- Social Determinants of Health**
- Provision of Accessible and Equal Care***
- Novel Biomarkers for the Accurate Prediction and Prognosis of Cancer at the Population Level**
- Communication Disorders and Public Health**
*Applicants may apply for a Ph.D. in this area either at the Department of Health Sciences or the Department of Medicine

Application, supporting material and admission procedure:
- The program is offered both in Greek and English.
- Interested applicants are expected to submit a research proposal with their application.
- Applications are accepted from Masters and MD degree holders or Masters and MD degree holders are eligible for admission to the Ph.D program in Public Health.

ADMISSION CRITERIA:
- The applicant must have a Master’s degree in an area of Health Sciences or related fields and/or extended relevant formal education, e.g. Medical Degree (M.D.)
- The applicant must have a strong academic record with a Grade Point Average (GPA) in the Master’s (or equivalent education) of B or higher, in accordance with EUC’s grading system.
- The Ph.D. Academic Programme of Study Committee assesses applicants on the basis of their academic record, other relevant qualifications, as well as their statement of research interests and description of possible areas of research. Subsequently, the Committee invites short-listed candidates to an interview.
- The Committee, after examining the content/discipline of the applicants’ previous academic studies, reserves the right to request from any applicant accepted to the program to take specified postgraduate courses and/or pass specified appraisals prior to admission.
- The applicants must demonstrate excellent knowledge of the language in which the programme will be carried out, and a very good knowledge of a second language according to criteria set by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
In exceptional circumstances, the School may consider transfer applications from similar programs at other Universities
